  • Mother is Maria Tapia; father is Mario Yanez; has one sister, Lucero Yanez

  • Idols growing up were Roger Federer and Jonathon Power

  • Moved to Aguascalientes, Mexico at age 8 

  • Studied business at the University of Rochester  2013-2017

  • Current PSA ranking #139 

  • Speaks Spanish and English

Career

  • Began playing squash at age 4 ​

  • Won his first national tournament when he was 10

  • Five-time Junior National Champion in Mexico, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009 and 2011

  • Five gold medals in Panamerican Junior Games, 2010 and 2011

  • 2nd and 3rd place- Panamerican Games 2012

  • 1st place- CSA Intercollegiate Doubles Championships, 2014

  • 2th place- CSA Individual Nationals, 2017

  • Four time 1st team All-American, 2014-2017

  • Received the John Vitone Award at the University of Rochester. This award is presented to a male athlete for outstanding sportsmanship in the men's intercollegiate squash program. 

  • Holds the record for most wins in the history of the University of Rochester squash with a record of 70-15

  • Debuted on the PSA World Tour in 2017 as a Wildcard entry in Cleveland, OH.

  • Made his first final of a 5k tournament in March 2018 in Charlottetown, Canada 

  • Won his first PSA tournament in April 2018 in Rochester, NY
